Tokenomics 1.000001 Proposal - Quadratic Community Pool

Hola Regens,

I realised upon reflection that the tokenomics 2.0 proposal we (LunarPunkLabs.org) submitted was probably a bit too technical for most people to grasp and would also require a significant engineering commitment; which we still plan to under take but is perhaps too longtermist for this network so we figured it wise to scope things to the very minimum implementable solutions in hopes of moving the needle.

Quite frankly a quick and dirty 15% solution is probably a bonding curve (automatic market maker) to make the community pool quadratic (like a fractional reserve). This would essentially mean placing an AMM on top of whats in the pool in order to increase the networks spending capacity with crypto economic wizardry.

If you wish, our lab could probably help get such an integration moving but honestly the Commons Stack already have niched down pretty hard on bonding curves and AMMs. Since they are already enDOAed stewards, we suggest that they do the integration.

If it turns out that they do not have the will or resources to help out; our team can probably get something together without too much hassle and port over the block science design and code base from Ethereum. We’d need the foundation to offer a budget and such to get on with that.

In particular it would be great to hear from Griff on this one as he’s been pumping these tools for a while. Apologies that this proposal isn’t quite to the rigour of our previous submission(s); we really like high standards too but as put quite a lot of energy into the other proposal(s) and got little to no response we’re saving the little energy left to push on with the longer term design over this suggestion for a reserve multiplier…

With all that said; we suggest that a quadratic reserve is a pretty good baby step towards tokenomics 2.0 as such primitive could be repeated for other purposes like quadratic donations etc. once it’s implemented.

Warmest regards,
josh

I think there isn’t enough context to what your proposal is to understand this post … can you back up a few steps and give us the basics?

Hey Josh, would you post a link to the original tokenomics 2.0 discussion / proposal? Thanks

Found it, for others who land here: https://commonwealth.im/regen/discussion/10002-rfp-tokenomics-20-proposal-adaptive-capital

Also, what would the implementation target be, a new Regen Ledger module, modifications to a current module, or both?

Also, can you provide links to some of the solutions you’ve mentioned such as Commons Stack AMM?

Thanks

I like the general thrust of the idea. My sense is that commons stack may not have the capability to do this due to the different engineering stacks, but it would be fun to see more detailed write up about what this would look like
