Regen Educational DAO

Hi all,

I would like to suggest the formation of a Regen Educational DAO.

The main purpose of the proposed Regen Educational DAO would be to build capacity within the REGEN ecosystem. More specifically capacity on:

  • Governance: Community outreach and education on the specific governance mechanisms of Regen Network. One main goal is to encourage community governance participation and have community lead development of future mechanisms.
  • Tech: Education and training on regen tech stack. One main goal here is to cultivate the future required talent pool for regen tech stack. Another goal here could be to cultivate and support bioregional validators.
  • Regeneration: Education on the business case for regeneration for land stewards, investors and wider public. One goal could be to setup a dashboard with data streams on the actual impact created in regen projects and their ROI.
  • Inclusion: Have specific focus on creating material and activities that are inclusive of marginalized groups.

The Regen Educational DAO could be materialized through a grant from the Community Pool. The Regen Educational DAO is seen as an ongoing effort, so there would be a need to find a long-term model for it’s continued operation.

The Regen Educational DAO is seen as a complementary initiative to things like Grants.

I would like to get input on the Regen Educational DAO and the proposed activities for capacity building. If there is a general interest I will do a more formal proposal draft.

At RND, we are working to expand educational resources to help onboard new community members. We have discussed regular community calls with an AMA or lecture style format to address the education gap between new community members and the complexities of web3, Regen Network, community governance, etc. Additionally a guidebook was written to help address this need (Welcome | Regen Network Guidebook).

Our tech stack is entirely open source, with developer documentation available (https://docs.regen.network/ledger/). We do not provide training to accommodate users without a developer background, but Interchain Foundation fills this gap with their training courses (https://academy.cosmos.network/).

Since this is a request for community funds, do you have an idea of how those would be spent to fulfill the goals you’ve outlined?

Thanks for the discussion.

Are you familiar with what resources already exist in the ecosystem?

What would this DAO specifically produce that serves the users of Regen Network? Which users would this DAO educate?

How would this DAO be structured? Who would be involved with this DAO? What are these individuals experience level with the current network content in order to lead education direction?

Hello,
I am posting crypto and blockchain tutorials on https://D.tube

Dtube is a serious alternative to finance tutorials if you intend to do some.
I am starting a game called “20 min to save the planet” and would love to include some tutorials about REGEN in it.
My tuto are posted in French but youtube is offering automated translation of subtitles, now a days.

So RND doing a good job putting together educational materials (lots of good stuff in Regen library), and interchain foundation & others working to educate/train to add devs to IBC. Even so, I ‘feel’ in agreement with solarmonk - an ongoing body devoted to educating community, public, policy makers and towards onboarding token holders, stakers, (project) developers, stewards etc might be a good thing. Sounds expensive and i’m not sure its’ top priority at current moment, kind of depends on nearer term goals.

All towards growing use & demand for $regen which is part of a request for proposals in re tokenomics upgrades, perhaps float this there?

How many members will compose the Educational DAO, are they going to be paid positions? or voluntary work?

I would love to chat with you further on this. I am a proponent of teaching Environmental Science and incorporating that into the structure of the Workstream of Refi

I want to bump this, as I think it’s a lovely idea and ever more important
