In need of communities assistance tokens lost in wallet conversion

Community,

I have been working with the Regen and Keplr teams in attempt to recover a lost wallet. No doubt a step I missed or messed up in the conversion from funding Regen to the Keplr wallet. Dan at Regen and Dogemos at Keplr have been great but have exhausted their options. They have identified no tokens have been transferred out of account. At this point I am asking for a governance proposal to burn my previous wallet and allow the Regen team to assign me a new wallet.

I would appreciate your support — thank you

Hi @freind_ly, really sorry to hear about this!

RND, Inc. has all of the KYC information for people that participated in our token sale and as long as tokens haven’t been transferred from their genesis wallets, I would support a governance proposal to change the public key on accounts where tokens have been lost and the company can 100% verify people’s identity. I would love to hear what others think but I think this would be a good community service as it is very early in the lifecycle of the chain and we understand that many token sale participants may not have understood how critical it is to properly back up their mnemonics.

Hope we can get this resolved for you!

This seems like a reasonable solution for very early supporters of Regen whom RND, Inc. can verify. @freind_ly seems to have exhausted their options. If they in fact have prelaunch tokens and can be verified as the original purchaser then I would support a governance proposal as @aaronc describes.

Hello @freind_ly, I feel bad about the situation you’re in.

Similar problems existed on the Cosmos Hub and the community helped fundraiser participants to retrieve their wallet keys.

@aaronc I think one possible route would be the Regen Foundation to take the initiative and submit a governance proposal. Then validators including ourselves can spread the word across the community and help pass the vote.

Helping out early contributors of the network is vital thus I don’t think there would be big opposition on this proposal.

Anyways, let’s see what we can do!

Agree! Let’s see what we can do tho help this early supporter!

Hi all, I have recently helped another early Regen supporter who seems to have experienced a similar situation — the account he has seems be different than the one where tokens currently reside. I would be willing to submit an on chain proposal to help out these early supporters.

Here’s a draft soft proposal, curious what modifications others would make and if others think this is a good idea and would support

PROPOSAL DRAFT

  1. Token sale participants who are unable to access their tokens since genesis and whose tokens have never been transferred or staked or touched in any way can opt-in and request the following
  2. Change the public key for their accounts to a new public key of their choice
  3. Once this change has been submitted the public key can never be changed again
  4. This change would be completed by dev team and included with update to Regen Ledger v4.0

Hi all, I’m Ethan, the early Regen supporter swidnikk refers to here, who has never been able to access the Regen wallet in which my tokens seem to be. I have done a lot of research at this point to try and figure out what happened, and it seems there are only a few specific ways this could have resulted. The current situation is that the mnemonic key that I recorded (I thought very carefully) when I first was creating my wallet, now links to a wallet with no coins in it. I was one of the last early supporters to get onboard before the initial sale closed, and when I registered, it seems that somehow the connection between the wallet where the tokens are held, and the mnemnoic key that I recorded when I opened it, are not connected. I am quite certain that I wrote down the mnemonic correctly, but of course, there is always the possibility of a mistake there.
Whatever the case, I have never been able to access the tokens that I invested in during the initial round, and have been trying to work with several kind and supportive folks from the Regen team to figure this out. After exhausting all the options we could, it seems that this proposal is the best method that could get me access to my investment. I want to humbly ask if this proposal can be accepted so that I can finally access my tokens. I will be supremely grateful if this is possible. Thanks very much,
Ethan

Thanks for bringing this by the community governance circle last week @swidnikk. Your community assistance and stewardship is recognised and appreciated. Shall we draft a proposal together and put it to a vote? I’d be happy to canvass the network for support on such a vote as it feels like a gesture that should be made in recognition of contributor support.

I’d like to work with you on the matter while also signalling to others in the same situation to get in touch personally; as ledger gov coordinator I’m happy to be the point of contact for these persons. I just need to know who they are!

We’d need wallet addresses and to confirm the identities but otherwise I’m in favour of your proposal and would like to help resolving the matter.

Warmest,
j

Thank you @Josh Fairhead . Here is a draft soft proposal, please review and suggest changes as you see fit. Looking forward to working with you and get thus submitted! Thank you

Draft proposal (ready for review)

This proposal has been submitted to chain and voting period has begun.

@ethoxhp @freind_ly please get in touch with @Josh Fairhead regarding next steps (assuming this proposal passes) and if you know anyone else who has had trouble, please let them know.

This is a really great solution to a challenging situation and I support it. I voted yes.

I support this and voted yes!

Hi everyone. I’m a prospecting REGEN tokenholder (not with this connected personal pubkey but with the one of an investment club I currently manage) and was checking governance proposals for the first time. So about this proposal I would humbly ask:

How is the process for anyone to verify that the person/entity receiving the to-be-minted REGEN is the same one that paid for investing in REGEN in the first place, assuming that the old regen will be burnt accordingly?

Also, has RND, Inc. any interest in REGEN?

Thank you

with “we” you mean yourselves and not everyone else, so how can we trust you? Thank you.

@ethoxhp - moving your locked tokens are on the upgrade list of ledger 4.0 - all systems are go!
